Maserati Struggles to Sell the Grecale in Bulk, Opting for Individual Sales | Carscoops

The Grecale Tributo Il Bruciato is a limited series that Maserati refers to as "a series of one-offs."

Maserati presents the Grecale Tributo Il Bruciato, drawing inspiration from esteemed Italian wine.

The Alchimia Scarlatta paint mimics the graceful movement of wine inside a glass.

The interior features a blend of tan and dark red leather, providing a luxurious, handcrafted appearance.

The Maserati Grecale has not achieved the sales success the Trident brand anticipated, experiencing significant declines in recent years, unless one considers the numerous rental models available at discounted prices through Hertz, which reflects the SUV's transformation from a luxury icon to a loyalty-program enhancement.

Still, in an attempt to revive interest, Maserati is focusing on personalization, taking an unexpected cue from Italian red wine.

The Grecale Tributo Il Bruciato is a limited edition vehicle, or as Maserati describes it, “a series of one-offs.” Its name is derived from Il Bruciato, a wine made by Marchesi Antinori, one of the most venerable and esteemed wine-producing families globally. Although alcohol and driving should not be mixed, Maserati’s Fuoriserie division has embraced this connection to create a distinctive specification for the SUV.

The centerpiece of this special edition is its Alchimia Scarlatta paint finish, which combines a rich burgundy base with copper-gold and dark raspberry hues, accentuated by a pigment known as Chromaflair. The outcome is a finish meant to reflect “the deep red of wine swirling in a glass.”

This exclusive Grecale offers 21-inch alloy wheels either in Pegaso Forgiati or Crio Fuoriserie styles, available with an optional Gloss Black finish. The brake calipers are also black, adorned with a corresponding Fuoriserie logo on the front mudguard.

Inside, the Tan and Dark Red leather upholstery features a “cannelloni” pattern, with Maserati designers incorporating a Dark Red Trident emblem on the headrests along with tone-on-tone stitching. The vehicle is equipped with a 14-speaker Sonus Faber premium audio system and a panoramic sunroof.

According to Maserati, the design takes inspiration from the Bolgheri region along Italy's Tuscan coast, where Il Bruciato wine has been crafted since 2002.

The emblem on the front fenders indicates that this model is built upon the Grecale Modena and maintains its mechanical configuration. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter mild-hybrid four-cylinder engine, producing 325 hp (243 kW / 330 PS).

Maserati has not yet disclosed pricing or production numbers for this limited series, which will be available in both European and North American markets.

The automaker reported delivering 11,300 vehicles globally in 2024, and forecasts suggest that 2025 may be even more difficult, regardless of how many “one-offs” Maserati creates to gain attention.
