Corvette Z06 Flippers Are Realizing the Difficulties That Arise When the Hype Diminishes | Carscoops
If you invested heavily in the high-performance variant of the Corvette C8, the recent sale might lead you to reconsider that choice.
A fully-equipped 2025 Corvette Z06 Convertible Z07 was sold for $137,500, resulting in a significant loss.
The 1,300-mile vehicle featured nearly all available options, including ceramic brakes.
Z06 price markups are rapidly diminishing as the market stabilizes and supply starts to catch up.
Generally speaking, regardless of a car's speed, the market always eventually aligns with the surrounding excitement. It seems this realization has hit the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Resale listings have indicated a slowdown for months, but this recent auction confirms it unequivocally. The formerly coveted Z06 is now facing reality.
A nearly new 2025 model with the sought-after Z07 package recently sold for a striking $137,500, a significant drop from its MSRP of $169,875. Anyone who paid top dollar, or even above sticker price, might feel the repercussions.
This particular Corvette, painted in Torch Red with Jet Black and Adrenaline Red leather, has only 1,300 miles and is being sold fully loaded. It comes equipped with the Z07 Performance Package, Carbon Aero Package, Engine Appearance Package, and desirable features like front-axle lift, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes, and forged Spider Design wheels.
Fundamentally, it’s not the features or mileage that are most relevant, but that $137,500 sale price. Even if the dealer purchased it for a lower sum, the plunge from MSRP (not to mention any markup) reflects how significantly the market has cooled for the Z06.
Previously, some dealers were demanding tens of thousands more than sticker price, especially for well-optioned cars like this one. It was clear to anyone thinking rationally that this phase of speculative buying, driven by scarcity and hype, couldn't last indefinitely.
While $137K is certainly not a trivial amount, it serves as a reminder that the excitement surrounding the Z06 may be waning. The 5.5-liter LT6 V8 still revs up to 8,400 rpm, generating 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, but the dynamics of resale have shifted.
If you paid above MSRP hoping for a healthy return, that opportunity has not only passed but may have encountered a harsh reality. The days of quick sales are over, at least for now. For those who held back and scoffed at dealer markups, the situation has finally changed. It appears that patience may be the most effective performance option.
