Confession Time: Although I had numerous toy cars, I spent much of my childhood dreaming of Power Wheels. I pleaded with my parents for one multiple times and even made the occasional appeal to a higher power. I remember receiving a letter from Santa one year, explaining that Power Wheels were not practical gifts in a world where children were suffering from hunger, or something along those lines. In short, I never found one under the tree (or anywhere else, for that matter).
However, as an adult with my own finances, my hobbies are no longer restricted by that benevolent figure. And in 2025, there’s a cooler (and much pricier) way to fulfill that miniature car dream. They’re called Lil Zoomers, which are essentially electric go-karts styled to look like small versions of real cars. In fact, they might be too realistic, but we’ll leave the legal matters to the attorneys for now while we marvel at the absurdity of these $10,000 toys.
Not all of them are that pricey, but none could be considered affordable. The cheapest option—a “Corolla-inspired” model named the “AE8SIX” and an FC RX7 model called the “FCRX7”—starts at $8,000; you'll need to add another grand if you want a custom paint job. The Nine64 Turbo (yep, just what it sounds like) begins at $9,000 for a standard color and $11,000 for a custom design.
The kart weighs under 300 pounds and comes equipped with a 3,000-watt motor and an unspecified battery capacity, although the company suggests a range of 30 to 50 miles and a maximum speed of 50 mph. They’re go-karts, after all; designed to be charged between relatively short races. Even 30 miles is sufficient for that, and 50 mph feels pretty fast on a compact kart track. But if that’s insufficient, you can upgrade to the “Performance” powertrain, which features a more powerful motor (4,000 watts) that can reach a top speed of 75. Both versions of the Nine64 sacrifice some top speed to the AE8SIX and FCRX7. So much for superior Por(*cough*)sche aerodynamics.
Lil Zoomers
Lil Zoomers claims to ship its karts globally, but the company’s website indicates a backlog of more than a month for new orders. If you want one in time to surprise someone else for the holidays (or for yourself; just don’t end up like this guy), you might want to place your order as soon as possible.
