The WN7 motorcycle features a single electric motor that generates 67 hp, though its price is 75 percent higher than that of the combustion CB750 Hornet.
Honda has introduced its first substantial production electric motorcycle.
The WN7 boasts approximately 81 miles of range and is priced at £12,999.
In contrast, Honda's other electric offerings are scooters that are priced at about a third of this amount.
Honda transformed the motorcycle industry in the 1960s and '70s, but has largely avoided the expanding electric two-wheeler market, limiting its range to a few electric scooters. This year marks a shift with the release of Honda's inaugural true EV motorcycle, the WN7.
The naked streetfighter design is a production model based on the EV Fun concept that Honda presented in 2024. It features an angular, muscular look with numerous modern flat surfaces and an upscale frame. A 5.1-inch LCD display is mounted behind the LED dual-deck headlights, and it also includes a traditional single-sided swingarm at the rear, reminiscent of Honda's iconic RC30 from 1987.
Powerful Electric Performance
The 'W' in its name stems from the development concept "Be the Wind," 'N' indicates it is a naked bike, and '7' refers to its power classification. According to British motorcycle publication MCN, it delivers 67 hp (68 PS / 50 kW) and 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) of torque, aligning with Honda's assertion that the WN7 performs similarly to 600cc combustion bikes for power and rivals larger liter bikes for torque.
Additionally, a power-restricted model suitable for Europe's A1 license for beginner riders is planned.
Charging and Range
Specific battery capacity details have not been disclosed, but Honda claims that the battery provides over 81 miles (130 km) of riding on a single charge, which should suffice for many commuter riders, even if it is half the distance offered by combustion motorcycles. With CCS2 rapid charging, it can achieve a 20-80 percent charge in 30 minutes, while a complete 0-100 percent charge using a home wall box takes three hours.
What is the Price?
What may deter potential buyers is not just the range but the cost. The WN7 is available for sale in the UK at £12,999 (approximately $17,700) ahead of deliveries set to commence early in 2026. This price may appear reasonable for an electric car from Honda, but it is less so in the motorcycle market where Honda's current electric scooters are priced between £3,299 and £3,800, and combustion bikes remain highly accessible. The gasoline-powered CB750 Hornet is priced at £7,449, while the sportier CB1000 Hornet SP is only £10,099. Additionally, the struggling Harley Davidson offshoot LiveWire offers an electric S2 with a range of up to 120 miles (193 km) for between £8,799 and £10,599, highlighting that the WN7 may seem like a luxury for enthusiasts.
