Polestar 5 Leak Suggests Nearly 900 HP and Features That Might Concern Porsche | Carscoops
After an extended delay, the Polestar 5 is expected to debut later this year with two Launch Editions.
Recent leaks suggest details regarding the performance and specifications of the Polestar 5.
One of the Launch Editions is anticipated to boast as much as 872 horsepower.
The pricing of the new model may be comparable to that of the base Porsche Taycan.
Although there hasn’t been much recent news about the Polestar 5, specific information seems to have surfaced ahead of the vehicle's launch later this year. Additionally, it seems that two Launch Editions will be available.
While these details should be regarded cautiously, it’s reported that the Polestar 5 Long Range Dual-Motor Launch Edition will likely start below £90,000 ($120,995) in the UK. It is expected to come well-equipped with features such as adaptive pixel LED headlights, frameless windows, and rain-sensing wipers. Digital side mirrors, soft-close doors, and 20-inch wheels are also among the anticipated features.
Inside, drivers may find a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and a 9.3-inch heads-up display, along with heated front seats made from bio-based MicroTech upholstery. The luxury vehicle is said to include a four-zone climate control system, a 15-watt wireless smartphone charger, and aluminum or black ash wood trim, along with a trunk space of 12.9 cubic feet (365 liters).
For those seeking more luxury, there will be several optional upgrades, such as Nappa leather, a microsuede headliner, and a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.
A 112 kWh battery pack is expected to power a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system generating 738 hp (550 kW / 748 PS) and 599 lb-ft (812 Nm) of torque. This arrangement could allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Additionally, it should support 350 kW DC fast charging and a WLTP combined range of 416 miles (669 km).
If that performance isn’t sufficient, the £104,835 ($140,938) Performance Launch Edition may enhance capabilities with a more upgraded dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 872 hp (650 kW / 884 PS) and 749 lb-ft (1,015 Nm) of torque. If accurate, this would represent a notable increase from Polestar’s initial estimate of 664 lb-ft (900 Nm).
With this added power, the acceleration from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) could be achieved in just 3.2 seconds. However, this might also lead to a reduced range of 351 miles (565 km).
The Performance variant is expected to feature a sport-tuned suspension with semi-active dampers, larger 21-inch wheels, and additional amenities, including the previously mentioned microsuede headliner and Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.
Thanks to MM for the information!
