A Skoda designer has revived the rare Felicia Fun pickup, presenting it as an eye-catching concept.

This design blends the beach vibes of the ’90s with Skoda’s new Modern Solid styling language.

Only 4,216 units of the Felicia Fun were produced, making it a rare collectible from Skoda.

While Skoda focuses on the future of the Octavia, its designers have still found time for some creative side projects. Among these is a modern reimagining of a quirky classic. Julien Petitseigneur, an interior designer at the Czech company, has reinvented the Felicia Fun pickup from the 1990s, and the concept feels too appealing to remain hidden away digitally.

The French designer initiated the project using AI tools for experimentation. He then manually refined the details, integrating Skoda’s Modern Solid design principles. Despite leveraging modern technology, Petitseigneur worked on the contemporary Felicia Fun for around two weeks, dedicating about three hours each evening after his regular job.

      Modern Proportions with Vintage Vibes

The resulting concept is a sporty two-door vehicle with a compact rear bed. Unlike the original, which resembled a modified supermini, this concept features a wider stance, large alloy wheels, an extended hood, and a streamlined roofline that contributes to a more athletic look.

Its front end takes cues from the 2022 Vision 7S concept, sporting slim LED headlights, a covered grille, and a skid plate. The profile showcases boxy wheel arches adorned with ample plastic cladding that contrast with the yellow exterior. The pink details and the full-width taillights evoke a nostalgic ’90s beach atmosphere.

      A Cabin with Personality

Inside the two-seater cabin, there’s a full-width digital cockpit framed in a style reminiscent of older CRT monitors. Unfortunately, the concept lacks the electric sliding partition of the original Felicia Fun, which converted it into a four-seater by utilizing space from the rear bed beneath a removable canvas roof.

Skoda has not disclosed any technical specifications for the concept, but based on its design, it seems to have been envisioned as an electric vehicle. It could feasibly be built on the VW Group’s MEB platform, potentially sharing parts with the upcoming Epiq small crossover.

The original Felicia Fun was a scarce model produced from 1997 to 2000, with only 4,216 units manufactured, all in yellow, and offering options for yellow, green, or orange bumpers, fenders, side skirts, and spoilers.

As for a production version of this modern reinterpretation? Don’t expect it anytime soon. However, Skoda’s CEO has suggested that if their main lineup performs well, there might be an opportunity to introduce a more niche, adventurous model in the future.
