      The incident took place in Hungary and was reportedly severe enough that several individuals were ejected from the bus.

      A prototype of the BMW iX3 was involved in a serious head-on crash in Hungary. Local reports indicate that the electric vehicle was speeding before the collision with the passenger bus. Eight passengers, including a child, sustained injuries and required hospitalization.

      The bus operator, MÁV-csoport, stated that the bus was en route to Gyöngyös when the iX3 “drifted into the bus's lane” and “collided head-on.” Seven bus passengers, including a child, were injured, along with the bus driver.

      Pictures from the scene reveal extensive damage, with the bus's front end severely crushed and several windows shattered. The front side section was also detached and mangled.

      MÁV-csoport mentioned that the driver “attempted to avoid the collision,” but “had no chance against the approaching vehicle.” The company also highlighted that the bus was “completely damaged and a significant amount of fuel spilled onto the roadway.”

      The event reportedly happened near Mátrafüred, and local reports claimed the electric crossover was speeding. While this remains to be confirmed, the prototype seems to be totaled as the entire front was destroyed.

      In the few photographs taken before the crossover was covered, the front wheel appeared to be ‘ripped’ off, and the bumper and front fender seemed to be completely wrecked. Additionally, the hood was unlatched, and the airbags had deployed.

      While numerous questions linger, the iX3 is set to be the first member of the Neue Klasse family and will be unveiled at the Munich Motor Show next month. It will be manufactured in Debrecen, Hungary, which is approximately two hours from the accident location.
