Nissan Has Finally Eliminated This Poor Infotainment System | Carscoops
The entry-level Kicks finally features a modern infotainment system, now including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Nissan has unveiled the 2026 Kicks, with a starting price of $22,430.
The base model now includes a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system.
Higher trims are available with a new Cold Weather package for an additional $300.
Due to tariffs, inflation, and changing consumer preferences, affordable vehicles have become increasingly scarce. Nevertheless, Nissan continues to provide a range of models priced under $25,000, such as the Versa, Sentra, Kicks, and Kicks Play.
After a redesign last year, the Kicks is back for 2026, but the starting price has risen to $22,430, plus a $1,495 destination charge. While still reasonably priced, the previous model's starting price was $21,830, with a lower delivery fee of $1,390. This results in a new entry cost of $23,925, a $705 increase over its predecessor.
Fortunately, the 2026 model includes several notable enhancements that help justify the price hike. Most significantly, the base Kicks S now features a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This replaces the older 7-inch display that did not support these popular navigation systems, much to the disappointment of customers who discovered this after their purchase.
In addition to the infotainment improvements, the entry-level crossover now comes with two front USB-C ports, replacing the single USB Type-A port previously offered.
The Kicks SV and SR trims are also upgraded with a new Cold Weather package for $300, which adds heated front seats, rear air vents, and heated side mirrors, making it a worthwhile investment.
Powering the Kicks is a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 141 hp (105 kW / 143 PS) and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm) of torque. It is paired with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission, which can be upgraded to an optional all-wheel drive system for an extra $1,500 or $1,650, depending on the trim. While the performance may not be thrilling, drivers can anticipate fuel efficiency ratings of up to 28 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined.
Pricing for the 2026 Nissan Kicks excludes a $1,495 destination charge.
