No Tax Credit? No Problem, Lucid Offers a $7,500 Discount on the Gravity | Carscoops
The company will absorb a $7,500 loss for each Gravity it leases in order to maximize customer access to the vehicle.
A special $7,500 credit is accessible for leases finalized between October 1 and December 31.
Currently, Lucid provides just one version of the Gravity, with a starting price of $94,900.
Next year, a Touring version of the Gravity will be introduced, starting at $79,900.
If you are considering a luxury all-electric SUV like the Lucid Gravity, now might be an ideal time to purchase one. The Trump administration is set to eliminate the $7,500 federal EV tax credit at the end of September, which will increase the cost of eligible EVs significantly. Thankfully, Lucid is stepping up by continuing to offer a $7,500 credit until the year's end.
Lucid has revealed that qualifying lessees who order a new Lucid Gravity and complete a lease between October 1 and December 31 will be able to take advantage of the Lucid Advantage Credit, which amounts to $7,500. Existing customers who qualify will receive the same benefit.
In a press release regarding the incentive, Erwin Raphael, Lucid’s vice president of revenue, mentioned that he has witnessed “firsthand how [the federal EV tax credit] has significantly encouraged consumers to transition to electric vehicles.”
Tax Credit Concerns
The removal of the tax credit comes at a challenging time for Lucid. The company has been working on the Gravity SUV for several years, and to support its own credit, it will now need to accept an extra $7,500 loss on every leased Gravity. This is unfortunate for a company that is still unprofitable and aims to become a strong competitor in the mass-market EV sector.
Lucid began production of the Gravity in late 2024 and has been gradually increasing its output. Recent drone footage from YouTuber LucidFlys indicates that there are currently hundreds of Lucid Gravity models parked in staging areas at its factory in Casa Grande, Arizona. According to the YouTuber, Lucid has been facing some supply chain challenges affecting Gravity production, particularly with shortages of head-up displays and power outlets.
At present, the Lucid Gravity is only available in Grand Touring form in the United States, with a starting price of $94,900. However, later this year, the order books will open for the Touring version, priced from $79,900. All variants feature a 926-volt electrical system, enabling charging at up to 400 kW, which means 200 miles (320 km) of range can be added in under 12 minutes.
