Lucid has introduced an off-road concept version of the Gravity at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The Gravity X features a roof box, LED lighting, elevated suspension, and all-terrain tires.

The custom body kit includes skid plates, tow hooks, black accents, and topographic map designs.

Creating a capable off-roader from scratch is one challenge, but transforming a luxury electric crossover that resembles more of a minivan than an SUV is a different hurdle altogether. Lucid embraced this challenge with its latest concept, crafting a more rugged version of the Gravity SUV meant for exploration beyond paved roads or at least giving that appearance.

Unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Gravity X concept incorporates off-road-specific components and unique design features that differentiate it from the standard model.

      Functional Bodywork

The most apparent modifications are the additional features on top: integrated crossbars support a roof box with extra LED lighting. The suspension has been raised to enhance ground clearance, and the 21- and 22-inch wheels are fitted with aggressive all-terrain tires.

A revised body kit enhances the Gravity X’s off-road identity. The front bumper now includes a prominent skid plate and integrated tow hooks. Wheel arch cladding stretches to matching side skirts and the rear bumper.

The exterior is finished in satin Astral Drift paint, highlighted by brushed metal accents and a contrasting black roof. The concept also features the Stealth Appearance package, which incorporates darker trim components throughout. A topographical map design on the hood highlights Big Sur and Death Valley, while the sill plates and rocker panels showcase the geographical coordinates of Pebble Beach.

The interior maintains its familiar comforts but includes several thoughtful upgrades, such as more durable floor mats, premium leather seats with subtle orange accents, a microsuede-wrapped steering wheel, and walnut wood trim on the dashboard and center console.

      Same Hardware Underneath

Performance components remain unchanged from the standard Gravity Grand Touring. The dual electric motors generate 828 hp (617 kW / 839 PS) powered by a 123 kWh battery. Lucid claims the SUV can achieve an EPA-estimated range of 450 miles (724 km) and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 3.4 seconds.

It has not yet been confirmed if the off-road enhancements will impact these performance figures; however, the increased ride height may affect aerodynamics and the chunkier, less efficient tires could result in a likely trade-off.

Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Design and Brand at Lucid, described the Gravity X as a natural progression of the company’s SUV platform: “The Lucid Gravity has redefined the boundaries of what an uncompromising SUV can achieve. The Lucid Gravity X concept builds on these fundamental principles to explore new opportunities off the beaten path while demonstrating the exceptional capabilities of the Gravity. Lucid’s range, power, and versatility create an ideal vehicle for adventurers seeking to venture further off-road.”

Could We See a Production Model?

The concept will be showcased at the Concept Lawn of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 17. Whether this will result in a production-ready off-road variant remains to be seen, but given the relatively minor changes from the standard model, there is little reason it couldn’t convert into a production version, providing Lucid with a viable competitor to the more rugged Rivian R1S.
