Infiniti Hints at Three Exciting New Concepts | Carscoops
The QX80 range may soon feature Terrain and Track Spec variants.
Infiniti is set to reveal three new concepts at Monterey Car Week, with two of them hinting at potential additions to the QX80 lineup and the third showcasing the future QX65 crossover coupe.
Earlier today, Infiniti launched the QX80 Sport, and two other variants may be in the works, set to be previewed by new concepts at Monterey Car Week.
The QX80 Terrain Spec will be an off-road oriented SUV, characterized by a prominent skid plate, extended fender flares, and a likely increased ride height. It will also include a roof rack and an auxiliary light bar.
While the company has not shared extensive details about this concept yet, it could draw inspiration from the Nissan Armada Pro-4X, which is equipped with air suspension, all-terrain tires, a better approach angle, and an electronic locking rear differential. If it is produced, this SUV would likely compete with the $96,500 GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate and the $114,500 Lexus LX 700h Overtrail.
If off-roading isn’t your preference, the QX80 Track Spec might be more suitable. It appears to be a more extreme iteration of the Sport model, featuring a distinctive front bumper.
This variant could resemble the Armada Nismo, boasting an aggressive body kit, a sportier suspension, and a modified steering system. It may also have a refreshed interior and an exhaust system that produces a "more evocative" sound.
Notably, the Nismo version is powered by an upgraded twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that generates 460 hp (343 kW / 466 PS) and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque, exceeding the QX80’s output of 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS).
Lastly, Infiniti will preview their upcoming crossover coupe through the QX65 Monograph concept. While the latest teaser offers limited insight, it displays an angular grille with an illuminated logo and familiar digital piano key lighting units.
Previous spy images and teasers have hinted at its sportier design, which is set for production. It will effectively be a two-row version of the QX60, expected to feature a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo four-cylinder engine generating 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 286 lb-ft (387 Nm) of torque. This engine should be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
