Despite the collision's aftermath, the truck driver made an effort to escape from the owner of the Dodge.
Video footage captures a Charger passing a semi-truck before being hit during a right turn.
The Dodge driver attempted to overtake on the right side near the entrance of a gas station.
Following the crash, the truck continued through the gas station and into the intersection.
When involved in an accident with another vehicle, it's easy to hold the other driver completely accountable. However, in many situations, both parties share some fault, which seems to be the case here following the collision between a Dodge Charger and a large semi-truck in the United States.
Clips shared on Reddit and other social media depict the crash and its aftermath. Initially, the driver of the white Charger is seen driving along an open road when a sizable truck emerges from a gas station.
The Dodge driver then shifts into the right lane, attempting to pass the truck. Unbeknownst to the Charger driver, the truck driver was already turning right into another entrance of the gas station.
As the Dodge driver honks the horn, the truck's rear swings wide, striking the side of the Charger and damaging the driver's door severely. The force of the impact suggests the truck driver may not have noticed the car at all, although he does brake shortly after, possibly realizing what happened.
Despite braking immediately after the collision, likely due to feeling the impact, the truck driver continued through the gas station, seemingly attempting to leave the scene. Moments later, the Dodge driver pulls up next to the truck's cab, informing the driver that his 360-degree camera documented the entire incident. Nevertheless, the truck driver drives away again, proceeding through the intersection.
Refusing to let the matter go, the Dodge driver pursued the truck, running a red light in the process and eventually pulling in front of it further down the road.
What happened next remains unclear. Before the footage concludes, the car's driver is heard saying, “I'm going to the hospital. My back hurts, my neck hurts, my shoulders hurt.” There’s no indication of whether police were called or if insurance details were exchanged. What remains evident is that the accident could have been avoided.
Had the Dodge driver chosen not to overtake the truck and maintained a safe distance, the collision likely wouldn't have occurred. Additionally, there is no indication that the truck driver had activated his turn signal, leaving the Charger owner unaware that he was making a right turn.
