Fiat's Compact Pickup Appears to Be Attempting to Infiltrate a Maserati Showroom | Carscoops
Stellantis is prepared to unveil another facelift for the Fiat Toro pickup, which has been in the market for a decade in Brazil.
The Toro is set to receive its second significant update since its launch in 2015 in South America.
The front has been redesigned with a bold bumper and vertical grille slats.
Engine options will include a 1.3 turbo flex FWD and a 2.2 turbodiesel AWD.
Certain design elements are unmistakably influential, as Fiat’s South American lineup appears to be incorporating some design cues from its Maserati counterparts. Following the introduction of the Maserati-inspired front end on the Abarth Pulse and Fastback crossovers, the refreshed Fiat Toro pickup now seems to be adopting a similar design theme.
The Fiat Toro made its debut in 2015 and received its initial redesign in 2021. With over 600,000 units produced in Brazil, Fiat aims to extend the life of this decade-old pickup with another update set for 2026.
The Facelift
While Fiat was busy releasing a teaser video of the Toro, a YouTuber managed to get a first look at the updated model, showcasing the modifications. The Toro’s front features a sharper design, complete with split LED headlights and vertical chrome slats in a large grille.
These updates give the pickup a more dominant appearance, and the styling aligns with Maserati aesthetics. However, the unpainted plastic accents and the boxy bumper intakes maintain the Toro’s humble origins.
The side profile appears to remain largely unchanged, although Fiat may introduce new alloy wheel options and color choices. At the rear, the Toro continues with the split tailgate but now features updated LED graphics for the taillights.
Interior Updates and Hardware
Interior enhancements focus on new trim materials and upholstery, along with the introduction of an electronic parking brake. The leaked video shows the high-end Ranch trim showcasing leather seats and wood-like accents for a more luxurious feel. The digital cockpit seems to remain consistent, equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen.
Engine Options and Market Availability
The engine lineup includes a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline/ethanol engine powering the front wheels, and a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine driving all four wheels. The diesel version is notably more robust, with a payload capacity of 1,000 kg (2,205 pounds) and a towing capability of 400 kg (882 pounds).
While there is no official launch date for the 2026 Toro yet, the fact that models have already reached dealerships suggests that the announcement is imminent. It remains to be seen whether a similar update will be offered for the rebadged Ram 1000 pickup. As with its predecessor, the Toro will be available exclusively in South American markets.
