Mazda enjoys a remarkable 2025, marked by significant gains in crossover sales and an unexpected rise in Miata sales.

In July, Mazda sold 1,163 MX-5s, representing a striking year-over-year increase of 130.8 percent.

However, the demand for the CX-30 plummeted by 34.7 percent in 2025, resulting in sales of only 39,112 units.

Overall, Mazda sold 255,355 vehicles by July, reflecting a 5.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Even as the industry shifts toward larger, technology-filled crossovers and SUVs, the lightweight sports car segment remains vibrant. This is evident from the recent surge in Mazda MX-5 sales in the U.S., where the passion for open-top driving and agile handling continues to thrive.

The MX-5 is not only maintaining its presence but also contributing to Mazda’s overall growth in what has already proven to be a strong 2025. Sales figures show that 1,163 MX-5s were sold in July, a substantial increase from the 504 sold in July 2024, marking a 130.8 percent rise.

Notably, the increase in MX-5 sales extends beyond just July. Year-to-date sales are up 31.7 percent compared to 2024, with 5,935 units sold. This means Mazda has sold more MX-5s than Mazda 3 Hatchbacks (5,527) in the first seven months of 2025.

Examining other models in Mazda's lineup, the CX-5 remains the top seller with 85,799 units sold this year, up 3.8 percent. Meanwhile, the CX-50 has also gained traction, becoming Mazda's second best-selling model, with 60,724 units sold this year—a 40.4 percent rise from last year's 43,244.

Additionally, the CX-90 experienced a 23 percent increase in sales, totaling 34,799 units, while the CX-70 saw a dramatic 403.9 percent increase, reaching 9,958 units.

On a less favorable note, Mazda3 sales have decreased by 12.7 percent this year to 19,028 units. More notably, interest in the CX-30 has significantly dropped, with sales for the first seven months of the year at 39,112 units—down 34.7 percent from 59,901 last year.

Despite some challenges, Mazda's overall sales performance in the U.S. remains on an upward trajectory. From January to July 2025, the company has sold 255,355 vehicles, a 5.4 percent increase over the same timeframe last year when 242,352 units were sold.
