The Champion is not leaving Red Bull.
On Thursday, just prior to the upcoming race in Budapest that precedes a three-week summer break, Max Verstappen informed the media, “I believe it's time to put an end to all the rumors, and for me, it has always been quite clear that I was staying regardless.”
The 27-year-old four-time and reigning World Champion appeared frustrated with the ongoing speculation regarding his potential move to Mercedes.
“Some individuals simply enjoy stirring up trouble, while others like to create drama, but for me, it has always been quite clear, including for next year,” Verstappen stated.
His irritation with the rumor mill continued. Verstappen remarked that people are “waffling” excessively during the season when the only person who can or should be speaking — him — is not. He emphasized that it is intentional, as it doesn't make sense to start spreading unfounded claims, and “that should apply to everyone.”
Verstappen mentioned that someone can have a personal relationship with another person (referring to Mercedes’ Toto) even in the absence of a professional relationship.
The World Champion indicated that he is already discussing plans and desired changes for the RBR race car for next year.
“If my boat is next to Toto’s, then it’s next to Toto’s,” Verstappen remarked.
Verstappen’s confirmation for the 2026 season follows Red Bull Racing’s dismissal of team principal Christian Horner earlier this month, and just hours after Ferrari announced it had extended its contract with team principal Fred Vasseur.
