Porsche is developing a new 911 Speedster that incorporates design elements from both the GT3 and 911 S/T.

The vehicle is expected to be equipped with a 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine delivering at least 503 hp.

Currently, Porsche offers 23 different versions of the 911, from the basic Carrera to the high-performance 911 Turbo 50 Years, catering to a wide range of preferences. Recently, spy photographers captured the first images of an eagerly awaited variant.

This variant is the upcoming 911 Speedster, which is anticipated to represent the final iteration of the 992.2 series. It was spotted testing in southern Europe and appears similar to a convertible version of the 911 GT3.

The prototype showcases a familiar front with a ventilated hood and an athletic front bumper, complemented by a prominent splitter and center-locking wheels. Closer examination reveals new fender vents reminiscent of those found on the limited edition 911 S/T.

At the rear, the vehicle features the bumper and center-mounted exhaust from the standard GT3, but the 911 Speedster does not include a rear wing. Additionally, a new engine vent appears to mirror that of the aforementioned S/T. Further modifications are likely, including a distinct roof and deck lid.

Details regarding the powertrain are still unverified, but a 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine is anticipated. The power output remains uncertain; the GT3 is rated at 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm), while the 911 S/T boasts 518 hp (386 kW / 525 PS) and 343 lb-ft (465 Nm).

Production numbers are expected to be limited, as the previous 911 Speedster was restricted to just 1,948 units. Launched in 2019, it featured a 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine generating 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque, allowing the manual transmission model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in four seconds and achieve a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h).
