A neglected contact point in Ferrari’s super SUV may impair braking performance.

Ferrari has recalled 541 Purosangue vehicles due to a short circuit issue that could hinder braking power. The solution involves installing a spacer to prevent contact between the fuse box and the footrest. The automaker will begin notifying owners on September 21 following one non-injury incident reported in China.

This recall affects over 500 cars, which for Ferrari—known for its limited production and high standards—represents a significant issue. It is surprising that such a number of Purosangue models (which Ferrari insists are not SUVs) require urgent safety corrections. Without this fix, the affected vehicles risk diminished braking performance, thereby raising the likelihood of an accident.

According to Ferrari, the problem originates from the fuse box's power supply interfering with the passenger-side footrest, leading to a potential short circuit. If this occurs, the driver will receive a warning on the dashboard regarding a braking issue, instructing them to consult a dealer due to possible reduced braking power.

While braking function is not entirely lost, it is indeed weakened. Unlike a complete brake failure seen in a separate Volvo recall, this situation results in diminished braking capability. However, neglecting the fix could exacerbate the issue. Therefore, Ferrari urges all 541 recalled vehicles to undergo thorough inspection and repair.

The remedy is straightforward: a spacer will be fitted to maintain separation between these components and prevent contact.

Interestingly, Ferrari became aware of the issue after a Purosangue in China experienced the problem, resulting in a short circuit without any accidents or injuries. Nevertheless, the company is proactive, opting to address the matter before it escalates.

Notifications to dealers and Purosangue owners will commence on September 21, 2025. If you are among the 541 owners, you're receiving this information nearly two months in advance. Until the repair is completed, owners should remain attentive to any brake warning lights that may illuminate.
