Lamborghini has recalled 27 of its hybrid supercars to address a problem with the doors.

In certain instances, the doors could unintentionally drop from their elevated position.

The manufacturer will replace the small yet crucial part at the core of the recall.

Lamborghinis are often recognized for their doors. Known in the industry as scissor doors, they are commonly called ‘Lambo doors,’ and the aftermarket is brimming with kits that can convert almost any door to swing out and up like those on a genuine Revuelto. Hopefully, these kits lack the same flaw affecting the 27 Lamborghini owners. Their doors may fall unexpectedly when raised, giving a new twist to the term ‘suicide doors.’

In late June, the Italian carmaker was conducting pre-delivery tests when they discovered an issue. A spherical pin on one of the doors of a Revuelto had come loose. It appears that the pin was not secured properly, allowing the door to lower while in the upright and fully-opened position. Although the mechanism may suggest that holding the doors up is an easy task, the doors themselves are quite heavy. If one were to fall, it could potentially injure anyone nearby.

The most surprising aspect of this situation is that the part holding the door up can fit in the palm of your hand, possibly even a child's hand. The diagram below illustrates it in position seven. It refers not to the entire tube-like assembly, but rather just the component at the very bottom. Lamborghini states that dealers will check the pins to ensure they are secure and functional.

If any are found to be defective, Lamborghini dealers will tighten them to the appropriate specifications or replace them entirely. Fortunately, the automaker has not reported any injuries or incidents related to the issue. Affected owners will receive a letter sometime between September 6th and 11th, according to the company. Dealers were informed of the matter on July 21, so it’s likely that some of the vehicles involved in this recall have already been repaired.
