An Affordable Adapter Reveals Significant Benefits for Acura and Honda Electric Vehicle Owners | Carscoops
Owners of the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX can purchase an approved adapter for the NACS plug.
A newly authorized adapter enables the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX to connect to Tesla Superchargers.
Initially, the Tesla app is required, though future integration into Honda's software is planned.
Future Honda 0 Series models will feature native NACS ports starting in 2026.
Drivers of Honda and Acura electric vehicles now have a considerably larger charging network available. The Prologue and ZDX models can now officially access Tesla’s Supercharger network throughout North America, thanks to a newly approved adapter.
Both vehicles continue to utilize the CCS (Combined Charging System) port but can now connect to Tesla’s NACS (North American Charging Standard) via this accessory, available for $225.
The company states that the approved adapter has been “tested for performance and compatibility” with the Prologue and ZDX, ensuring a “reliable charging experience.” While aftermarket options exist, Honda warns that “damage caused to a vehicle as a result of using an unapproved adapter may not be covered by the vehicle's limited warranties.”
The official NACS adapter is currently available at authorized Honda and Acura dealerships and on the Honda DreamShop website, all priced at $225.
At first, Honda and Acura EV owners will need to use the Tesla app to access a Tesla Supercharger, but the automaker has promised future integration with HondaLink and Acura EV applications. Additionally, the standard Google Maps on the infotainment system helps owners find Tesla Superchargers.
As of June 2025, Honda has sold 49,334 units of the Honda Prologue and 17,726 units of the Acura ZDX in the U.S. market, impacting a total of 67,060 EV owners. Both electric crossovers were developed in partnership with GM.
The first Honda models with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port will be the production versions of the 0 Series sedan and SUV, expected to hit dealerships in 2026.
The agreement between Honda and Tesla was initially announced in 2023, following similar announcements by other automakers. The Tesla Supercharger network now includes over 23,500 locations across the United States. By 2030, Honda and Acura EV owners are projected to have access to approximately 100,000 DC fast chargers throughout North America, covering multiple charging networks.
