Production of the Ford Mustang GTD significantly increased in June.
June accounted for 66 percent of all units produced to date.
Ford has announced that owners will be prohibited from selling the vehicle for two years following delivery.
The demand for the most powerful Mustang ever created is high, but Ford is establishing strict limits on who can acquire one and, more crucially, on what they can do with it. The automaker is gradually increasing production of the 2025 Mustang GTD and has made it clear that owners should not anticipate flipping it for a quick profit.
After a slow beginning earlier this year, production surged in June, with 31 units completed that month alone. This represents 66 percent of the total GTD builds thus far, bringing the total to 47 vehicles. As customer deliveries commence, Ford has specified one condition: owners must retain their GTD for a minimum of two years before selling it.
Additionally, Ford does not manufacture these pony cars in any of its primary production plants. Instead, it contracts the work to Multimatic, the same Canadian manufacturer responsible for the GT supercar. In January, only two GTD units were produced, followed by none in February, three in March, one in April, and ten in May. This makes the 31 units produced in June particularly noteworthy.
To guarantee that the GTD is received by genuine Blue Oval enthusiasts, Ford mandates that buyers sign a contract agreeing not to sell the vehicle for two years post-delivery. This policy closely mirrors what was implemented during the sale of the Ford GT.
Notoriously, some individuals, such as celebrity John Cena, have contested that contract in the past. We anticipate similar occurrences this time around. However, it is likely that Ford has learned from its previous experiences and is better equipped now.
This is undoubtedly the most powerful and exclusive new Mustang to ever come from Ford. The starting price is $325,000, but that merely reflects the base cost. As noted by Ford Authority, the Carbon Series begins at $428,000, while the Spirit of America version is priced at $429,000. These amounts do not include optional features or possible dealer markups.
