This American Truck Just Humiliated All Hypercars at Goodwood | Carscoops
This unique prototype shares almost no similarities with the production F-150 Lightning.
An Electric SuperTruck boasting 1,600 hp triumphed over all competitors at the Goodwood hillclimb course.
Romain Dumas achieved a time of 43.23 seconds in Ford’s remarkable triple-motor electric truck.
Koenigsegg’s Sadair’s Spear set a new production car record with a run of 47.14 seconds.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed once again showcased an incredible array of some of the rarest, fastest, and most expensive vehicles in the world over the weekend. From cutting-edge hypercars to award-winning race cars, it was a stunning display of automotive performance.
Surprisingly, the fastest ascent of the hill was not made by a Le Mans prototype or a multi-million-dollar supercar. Instead, it was an all-electric pickup truck that took center stage, although this is far from a conventional battery-operated vehicle.
The vehicle in question is Ford’s astonishing F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. Revealed in mid-2024, it quickly claimed top honors at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This past weekend, experienced driver Romain Dumas took the wheel to tackle the Goodwood hillclimb. Last year, he drove the Ford SuperVan 4.2 to victory, clocking an impressive time of 43.98 seconds.
Ford’s SuperTruck Achieves an Impressive Run
Ford’s SuperTruck demonstrated even greater speed. During his final attempt of the weekend, Dumas recorded a time of 43.23 seconds, far surpassing Scott Speed’s best time of 45.03 seconds in Subaru’s special 670 hp WRX Project Midnight.
Although the SuperTruck carries the F-150 Lightning name, it has little in common with the standard production vehicle. Equipped with three electric motors, it generates over 1,600 hp and features striking aerodynamic bodywork that produces 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg) of downforce at 150 mph (240 km/h).
Production Car Record
While the SuperTruck set the fastest overall time, the weekend also achieved a significant milestone in production cars. Koenigsegg’s new Sadair’s Spear, driven by Javier Castane, recorded a top time of 47.14 seconds. This impressive performance not only captivated spectators but also established a new production car record, surpassing the previous mark set by the Czinger 21C by over a second.
The Sadair's Spear is a track-focused variant of the Jesko, optimized for enhanced performance. It boasts an additional 25 horsepower compared to the Jesko Attack, is 35 kg (77 lbs) lighter, and features a more aggressive aerodynamic design aimed at maximizing grip and stability.
