
Stellantis Has Recently Suffered a Loss of Almost 50% in Its Dodge Sales Over a Six-Month Period | Carscoops
Stellantis is currently facing significant challenges in the US market, with Jeep, Ram, and Fiat being the only brands performing relatively well—though it's not sufficient to offset the overall decline.
Stellantis reported an 11 percent drop in U.S. sales for the first half of 2025, with Dodge experiencing a nearly 50 percent decrease.
In this period, Dodge sold 4,299 Charger EVs compared to 26,876 ICE Chargers during the corresponding time last year.
Alfa Romeo’s sales fell by 34 percent, reflecting declines across its Giulia, Stelvio, and Tonale models.
While several automakers, including Ford and Kia, saw an increase in U.S. sales in the first half of the year, Stellantis did not share the same fortune. The group’s sales decreased by 11 percent in the initial six months of 2025, including a 10 percent drop in the second quarter. The primary factors contributing to this downturn were Dodge, Alfa Romeo, and Chrysler.
Dodge is experiencing particularly severe difficulties, having sold only 47,481 vehicles, a 49 percent decrease from 92,735 units in the first half of 2024. Sales in the second quarter also fell sharply, dropping 48 percent from 49,787 to just 25,747.
The significant decline can be attributed to Dodge's decision to eliminate the traditional ICE-powered Charger and Challenger. In the first half of 2024, Dodge sold 26,876 Chargers and 21,217 Challengers, but in the current year, only 1,630 Chargers and 1,501 Challengers from inventory were sold. Although the Charger Daytona EV has been introduced, it is not achieving the same level of popularity as its ICE counterparts.
In the first six months of this year, Dodge managed to sell just 4,299 Charger EVs. Additionally, sales of the Dodge Hornet have dropped 52 percent to 5,647 units, down from 11,718 in H1 2024. The sole positive for Dodge is that Durango sales increased by 4 percent overall this year and by 16 percent in the second quarter.
Alfa Romeo is also facing difficulties, with year-to-date sales down 34 percent to 31,614, and a sharp 51 percent decline in Q2. In the first half of the year, the brand sold 882 Giulias (a decrease of 32 percent), 1,126 Stelvios (down 40 percent), and 1,156 Tonales (down 28 percent). Chrysler’s sales have fallen 22 percent this year to 58,244 units, with a significant 42 percent drop in Q2 to just 23,175. This decline is largely attributed to the Pacifica, which saw sales plummet by 29 percent this year to 50,335 units in the first half, significantly down from 70,882.
There is a silver lining, albeit small, for Stellantis, as Jeep, Ram, and Fiat are performing better. First-half Ram sales increased by 2 percent to 203,984 units, while Fiat's sales surged by 95 percent due to rising demand for the 500 city car. Jeep’s sales in the first half were down 5 percent to 289,398 units year-over-year, but a recovery occurred in Q2, showing a 1 percent increase with 148,832 sold.
Overall, the data presents a bleak outlook for Stellantis at the moment. Urgent action is needed to reverse this trend. It's hoped that Antonio Filosa, who became the group's CEO in June and has quietly managed its American operations for the past few months, will be able to address these pressing issues.
