GM is optimistic that the 2026 Corvette, featuring a new interior, will help improve sales.

While Corvette sales have declined, overall sales within the GM family have risen this year.

Cadillac and Buick brands are performing exceptionally well thus far.

The first half of 2025 has been quite productive for GM. Sales in the US have increased by 12 percent this year, with a 7 percent rise in the second quarter. However, even with all GM brands reporting sales growth this year, certain models have faced significant losses in 2025, with the Chevy Corvette being the most notable among those still in production.

In the first six months of the year, GM sold 12,595 Corvettes nationwide, marking a significant 29.7 percent drop from H1 2024, when it sold 17,914 units. The situation worsened in the second quarter, with only 5,801 new Corvettes sold, reflecting a 37.9% decrease from the 9,338 units sold in Q1 2024.

This decline is somewhat surprising, especially given that the C8 lineup is more extensive than ever, featuring the Stingray, E-Ray, Z06, and ZR1, providing buyers with more choices.

One possible explanation for this slowdown could be that buyers are waiting for the updated 2026 Corvette, which introduces a revamped interior and eliminates the controversial button layout but comes with a higher price tag.

If the 2026 model fails to generate a strong market response, despite the expanded offering that now includes the ZR1X, it could indicate a more significant problem for Chevy.

Looking beyond the Corvette, GM delivered a total of 1,439,951 vehicles in the US during the first half of the year, representing an 11.6 percent increase from last year. Buick saw the most significant sales surge, delivering 116,055 units in the first six months, a 29.2 percent increase from the 89,830 sold in H1 2024. Buick also continued to grow in Q2, with a 19.3 percent rise.

Cadillac sales have also risen this year by a notable 16.5 percent to 86,104 units, led by the Escalade, which saw a 26.9 percent increase in deliveries to 24,375. However, sales of the all-electric Lyriq have decreased by 28.8 percent to 9,317 units.

At Chevy, year-to-date deliveries are up 9.4 percent to 921,886 units. High-performing vehicles include the Blazer EV (+76.1 percent), Colorado (+26.3 percent), Equinox (+22 percent), and the Equinox EV (+2,639 percent). GMC reports a sales increase of 11.2 percent this year to 315,906 units.
