It doesn’t feel long since we celebrated the mid-cycle refresh of Kia’s three-row family SUV, but in the fast-paced automotive market, that was quite a while ago. Kia is already deep into the development of the next-generation model, with production-ready prototypes spotted in real-world conditions, engaging in SUV activities. These prototypes seem to be undergoing testing for durability in hot weather, ensuring that the powertrain cooling systems can handle daily demands—and more.
Though these prototypes are extensively covered in vinyl wrap, we can observe that Kia opted for a boxier design reminiscent of the updated first-generation model. This redesign introduced a more defined front end and the entire X-Pro aesthetic, which has been successful for Kia despite only minor functional enhancements.
Based on the grille and tire options visible, we can deduce there are two or three trim levels represented. At least two configurations are equipped with off-road tires (one featuring a rectangular mesh grille and the other with white wheel "accents" and a vertical grille style). It seems likely that one is the X-Line, aimed more at aesthetics, while the other represents the full X-Pro version.
While specifics about the next-gen Telluride are not available, we can reference the recently redesigned Hyundai Palisade, which shares the same platform and powertrains. Hyundai’s new SUV will introduce a hybrid powertrain for the first time, in addition to the returning V6. The trailers shown in the gallery below aren’t just for show; the new Palisade hybrid is capable of towing 4,000 pounds, and we have strong reasons to believe the Telluride will match this capability.
With 2026 approaching quickly, we anticipate seeing the new Telluride in person sooner rather than later. In the meantime, feel free to explore these prototypes by swiping or clicking through the full gallery below.
