Bentley Suspends Stock Exports to the US Amid Increasing Trade Uncertainty Under Trump | Carscoops
Confusion surrounding the US-UK trade agreement has left some ultra-luxury cars in a state of uncertainty.
On June 10, 2025, Michael Gauthier reported that Bentley has decided to pause certain exports to the United States. While custom-ordered vehicles are still being shipped, ‘off the shelf’ models are not.
This halt seems to stem from misunderstandings regarding the recent US-UK trade deal.
Although Bentley's customers typically possess significant disposable income, the company has still decided to pause some exports to the U.S., a situation linked to President Trump’s trade war, which has led to increased costs and widespread confusion.
As reported by Automotive News, Bentley has ceased importing 'off the rack' models that would merely occupy dealership lots until sold. However, vehicles that customers have ordered are unaffected, ensuring that deliveries will continue.
The focus on customer orders should mitigate the impact of this hold. Still, with only around 378 vehicles in inventory, an extended delay could lead to shortages.
While such a scenario seems improbable, Bentley appears to be awaiting further clarity on the US-UK trade agreement. As we noted last month, the first 100,000 vehicles imported into the U.S. by UK automakers annually will incur a 10% tariff; beyond that, the tariff will rise to 25%.
Initially, the Prime Minister’s office portrayed the deal as favorable for automakers, reducing tariffs from 27.5% to 10%, which was expected to save Jaguar Land Rover “hundreds of millions a year.”
However, there seems to be confusion regarding the implementation of the 100,000 vehicle limit. Bentley Americas CEO Mike Rocco acknowledged this uncertainty, stating, “Every U.K. manufacturer is trying to understand the matter.”
The situation remains unclear, but Bentley is reportedly keeping prices steady for customer orders made through June. New pricing is anticipated in July, and vehicles will likely become pricier, as even with the new trade deal, tariffs on British automotive imports are set to rise from 2.5% to 10%. This increase is considerable, particularly since Bentley implemented only a 0.5% average price hike for the 2025 model year.
