The Corvette ZR1 accelerates to 60 mph in just 2.2 seconds during recent performance tests.

It provides 1,064 hp solely to the rear wheels while still maintaining remarkable traction.

The enormous Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires significantly enhance its grip during full-throttle launches.

It was already known that the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 would be fast. With 1,064 hp available from its 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8, it’s almost expected. It can reach a top speed of 233 mph, and according to Car and Driver, it is the fastest rear-wheel-drive car they have ever tested.

Given that all the ZR1's power is directed to the rear wheels, one might assume it would easily spin its tires at even the slightest throttle input. However, the new flagship Corvette recorded a 0-60 mph time of just 2.2 seconds in Car & Driver’s assessment.

It's important to note that C&D employs a one-foot rollout for all its 0-60 mph tests, meaning the Corvette ZR1 didn’t actually accelerate from a complete stop to 60 mph in 2.2 seconds. A one-foot rollout typically trims about 0.2 to 0.3 seconds from a car’s 0-60 time. That said, it's still an impressive achievement. In testing the Lamborghini Revuelto, equipped with all-wheel drive and 1,001 hp, C&D also required 2.2 seconds to reach 60 mph.

A significant factor contributing to the ZR1's excellent grip is its configuration. With the engine positioned over the rear axle, traction is enhanced where it's most critical. Coupled with ultra-sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, measuring 275 mm wide in the front and 345 mm in the back, it creates a setup designed for performance, even without advanced front-drive assistance.

      The Quarter-Mile Performance Supports This

The impressive performance isn’t limited to the 0-60 sprint. The Corvette ZR1 reaches 100 mph (161 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and 130 mph (209 km/h) in a mere 7.1 seconds. The quarter-mile run? It’s completed in 9.5 seconds at a speed of 149 mph (240 km/h). To make this even more astonishing, all of these times were recorded on an unprepared surface rather than a drag strip with sticky tire compounds or VHT. Quicker times can be expected once owners take these cars to proper tracks for performance tests.
