Perhaps some individuals should not have the freedom to select their own cabin colors, even for a $400,000 flagship model.

A newly showcased Cadillac Celestiq illustrates the extent of customization available for affluent buyers.

The interior showcases mismatched colors that prompted comparisons to superheroes on social media.

This unique design exemplifies the liberty and risks associated with ultra-personalized six-figure car builds.

The ultra-wealthy are vastly different from the average person in nearly every aspect. Regarding cars, they can make choices that typical buyers would never envision. Consider the Cadillac Celestiq, which offers a multitude of bespoke options, including the opportunity to personalize the cabin color—not just through preset selections or minor details like contrasting stitching, but through comprehensive, limitless customization.

One specific Celestiq we came across online demonstrates the extremes of this freedom and raises the question of whether everyone should be entrusted with designing their own interior.

Displayed at Arrowhead Cadillac in Glendale, Arizona, this particular Celestiq features a pearl blue exterior. While it may not be the most extravagant color, it effectively accentuates the car's sleek lines. However, it’s the interior where things become particularly eccentric.

      When Customization Exceeds Limits

The cabin includes several vibrant blue panels, found on the door cards and seats. The carpeting and floor mats are also in a bright blue hue; however, the blue paint does not quite match the blue paneling in the cabin. Yet, that’s not even the most confusing aspect.

The true peculiarity lies in the inclusion of numerous bright red and stark white elements in the cabin. The entire dashboard, steering wheel, and parts of the door cards are upholstered in red. The center console tunnel features a white surface atop it. Though it’s an audacious mix, it doesn’t garner compliments from passersby.

      Not Merely a Personal View

Moreover, this isn't simply one person's negative opinion on exuberant interiors. Arrowhead Cadillac shared the vehicle on social media, leading to an immediate surge of comments. The general consensus among the public? Less “modern art” and more “superhero tie-in.” Here are some examples.

One individual remarked, “Looks like the Ghostbusters car.” Another inquired, “Did the Cobra Commander special order that?!” Then there was: “Shaq Special?” followed by “Of the 7k different interior choices, they chose THIS?!?” And the final touch, “When is Captain America taking delivery of his Celestiq?” Clearly, we hope whoever designed it isn’t perusing the comment section.

To be fair, not all reactions were negative. A handful of commenters did express admiration for the design. One described it as “futuristic and classic in one,” while another simply said, “I like the interior color choice.”

However, this is precisely the nature of vehicles at this price point. When one is spending well over $340,000 on a custom creation, they're not necessarily seeking widespread approval and are often more inclined to experiment with cabin colors. Ultimately, someone made the decision to choose this combination and will likely be the only person living with it.
