A contemporary Skoda Favorit would serve as an appealing counterpart to the ID.2.

Designer Ljudmil Slavov has presented his interpretation of a modern Skoda Favorit.

The original hatchback was produced from 1987 to 1994, before it was succeeded by the Felicia.

This concept takes the form of a crossover with a Modern Solid design that pays homage to its predecessor.

Earlier this month, Skoda revealed a modern iteration of the 1899 Laurin & Klement Slavia B motorcycle. Now, the brand has turned its attention to another aspect of its history, the Favorit, which was the last model developed independently by Skoda before being acquired by the Volkswagen Group in 1991.

Despite being developed with limited resources under a communist regime, the Favorit could have easily turned out to be just another inexpensive, unattractive, and forgettable vehicle. Nevertheless, when it launched in the summer of 1987, it achieved success and played a significant role in helping Skoda establish its modern identity.

The five-door hatchback debuted with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produced only 62 hp (46 kW / 63 PS). Despite its unassuming performance, the Favorit was exported to several countries, demonstrating that the company’s engineers could produce an appealing and high-quality car that garnered international recognition.

Today, Skoda designer Ljudmil Slavov has created a contemporary version of the Favorit, developed over about 120 hours. This concept pays tribute to the original Bertone design while embracing a Modern Solid style.

In addition to that, Slavov opted to "update the original concept for today" by transforming it into a pseudo-electric crossover, somewhat akin to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

Interestingly, the designer chose not to include Skoda’s Tech-Deck Face, a decision that seems appropriate considering the original model had a relatively simple front design. The concept loosely echoes this with slim LED headlights paired with partially transparent covers, reminiscent of the large headlights featured on the classic version.

Additional notable aspects include "shared" door handles and concave wheels, along with a floating roof, an elegant C-pillar, and illuminated “SKODA” badging at the rear.

Slavov also imagined a racing variant, which boasts distinctive bumpers and robust cladding. This version is characterized by an eye-catching diffuser, a larger rear spoiler, and a quick-release hood.
