The Bluetti Apex 300 power station, along with its B300K battery, is quite substantial and heavy. Together, they weigh over 100 pounds, which is considerably more than the small DC power supply I occasionally use for my truck's fridge. However, this Bluetti setup offers capabilities beyond merely powering a few camping devices. It can supply shore power to a motorhome, charge an electric vehicle, or serve as the core energy source for a fully off-grid electrical system.

Bluetti offers a broad array of portable power solutions, with the Apex 300 being the most recent addition. Currently, you can find significant discounts on the Apex 300, especially when bundled with additional accessories (like solar panels or car chargers, which are recommended). For instance, you can purchase an Apex 300 by itself for $1,199, or you can get it with two 200W portable solar panels and a charging cable for $1,799. Additionally, you can combine an Apex 300 with the larger B300K battery for $1,999. Explore the combination options currently available on IndieGoGo. We received an Apex 300 and B300K battery to test, and I must say, they are quite impressive.

The Apex 300 might be more than what's needed for day trips or even weekend outings. However, if you're looking to engage in multi-day camping, establishing a backcountry operational base, or require a quieter home power backup solution than a generator, this product is definitely worth considering.

      Power and Capabilities

With a storage capacity of 2,764.8Wh and an output of 3,840W, the Apex 300 can be switched between 120V and 240V based on the devices you intend to power—120V is standard for most plug-in items, while 240V caters to heavy-duty appliances. If you require additional power, you can connect up to three of these units in parallel for triple the total output.

To extend the runtime for your devices, you can increase the energy storage by adding a B300K battery underneath the Apex 300 (as shown in our images) and connecting it using the provided heavy-duty power cable. By linking multiple Apex 300 units, you could integrate as many as 18 B300K batteries into such a system, accumulating an astonishing 58,000Wh of energy, potentially capable of powering an entire home for a week.

The Apex 300 exhibits an elegant industrial design with clean lines, satisfying buttons, a highly readable screen, and clear labeling, making it both user-friendly and visually appealing.

The unit also offers up to 50A/12,000W bypass capability, functions as a true 0ms Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), and has a very low AC idle drain of just 20W.

Practically speaking, this allows the electrical load to be directed without tripping or overheating the bypass switch, permitting critical high-voltage appliances such as your HVAC system, refrigerator, or well pump to operate seamlessly even when the inverter is bypassed.

An Apex 300 and extra batteries can be directly integrated into your home’s electrical system, instantly activating during a power outage (0ms UPS refers to zero milliseconds of transition time from main power). The device also features a weather-alert function, which can automatically charge the batteries fully when a storm is anticipated. This is known as Extreme Weather Alert Mode and is part of Bluetti’s app, which we will discuss further along.

Charging personal electronics is effortless with the Apex 300. It efficiently powered a truck fridge and handled a hair dryer without any issues. Appliances that generate heat consume a lot of power, and the quick high-demand draw of a hair dryer (essentially a heat gun) significantly tests any power source. I found its performance quite impressive, and Bramble the dog enjoyed an extra fluffing.

The low idle drain specification (20 watts, similar to a child’s LED nightlight) means that the unit won't waste energy when charged and inactive.

The Apex 300 includes six standard AC outlets for plugging in typical household gadgets, alongside NEMA TT-30R and NEMA 14-50R outputs suitable for heavy-duty tasks like charging an electric vehicle or connecting to a stationary RV. While it's unlikely that both of these functionalities will be needed simultaneously, if your power is out for an extended period and you drive an EV, having a Bluetti Apex 300 in your garage could get you up and running again before service resumes, especially if you have one or two B300K batteries storing energy. Alternatively, if you are on an RV adventure and wish to camp in an area without electricity, you could load the Apex 300 into your vehicle and
