Although Ford designed the Ranger Raptor to race over dunes like a Baja 1000 competitor, there are still limits to its ability to challenge the laws of physics. One driver discovered this the hard way after executing a jump that spanned roughly three-quarters the length of a football field and landing with a thud.
In the footage, we observe what appears to be a factory-standard, current-generation Ranger Raptor approaching a dune in Canoa Quebrada, Brazil, at a high speed. The fact that the pickup makes it up the hill is quite remarkable due to the incline and length, which could explain the driver’s choice to take off with such velocity. The truck ascends and launches into the air before landing in the sand, although the landing itself wasn't captured on camera.
It's challenging to determine the exact distance the Raptor soared. An X user, LeL_Fontenele, mentioned that he had heard it landed approximately 85 meters (around 280 feet) from the launch point, though he suspects this number may be inflated. Nonetheless, it was a significant jump, overshadowing the viral clip of a first-generation F-150 Raptor crash-landing after a 90-foot jump. Could this driver have set a new record for Raptor jumps?
What is clear, however, is the state of the truck—it’s likely going to require extensive repairs, to say the least. TikTok footage (shown below) highlights some of the damage, including a crumpled front end, dislodged fender trim, and deployed airbags. There also seems to be an issue with the rear, as both the bed and rear axle appear displaced, while another video allegedly shows the truck being towed from the dunes as the rear wheels appear immobilized. It's hard to imagine the damage to the frame.
While the driver survived, the severity of his injuries remains unknown. Landing a jump in any vehicle, whether it’s a car, motorcycle, or mountain bike, can be quite jarring, as evidenced by another individual who suffered a back injury after hitting a jump at over 60 mph in his F-150 Raptor a few years back.
