The flagship model starts at 149,900 yuan, which is approximately $20,500 in the local market, certainly enhancing its attractiveness.

Nissan’s N7 electric sedan has secured over 10,000 orders in just 18 days.

The N7’s price point, beginning at around $16,500, plays a crucial role in its popularity.

With a power output of 268 hp, the N7 can achieve a range of up to 388 miles thanks to its 73 kWh battery.

Despite being amidst significant challenges, including factory closures and mass layoffs, Nissan has managed to achieve a minor victory with a new EV that is gaining popularity. Currently, it is exclusively available in China, but it’s hoped that this success can inform the development of future global models that may contribute to the company's stability.

Last month, Nissan introduced the N7, and it seems to represent a new beginning. It has a distinctive look compared to other models in their lineup, which is refreshing. While it still carries the Nissan emblem, the N7 is based on the Dongfeng 007 platform, developed through Nissan’s joint venture in China. It has already found favor among local consumers, with over 10,000 orders placed within 18 days of its launch, indicating strong interest in Nissan’s offerings.

According to Nissan, around 30% of purchasers already own a Nissan vehicle, while the other 70% are first-time customers. The initial 35 units were delivered during a special event at Dongfeng Nissan’s New Energy Brand Experience Center in Shanghai.

In addition to its modern appearance, the N7 is certainly appealing due to its affordability. The base model is priced at 119,900 yuan or about $16,500 based on current exchange rates. This variant features a 58 kWh battery, 215 hp, and an estimated range of 510 km (317 miles). Nissan also offers Pro and Max trims of the N7 with the same powertrain, priced at 129,900 yuan (~$17,800) and 139,900 yuan (~$19,200) respectively.

For those seeking more range, two models equipped with a larger 73 kWh battery are available, starting at 139,900 yuan (~$19,200) and 149,900 yuan (~$20,500). The N7 620 Pro and N7 620 Max versions are powered by a 268 hp electric motor and provide a range of 625 km or 388 miles. Notably, according to CarNewsChina, over 60% of the orders have been for the higher-end Max versions.

As appealing as it is, it seems that the N7 will likely remain within China. If Nissan chooses to expand its distribution, it’s highly unlikely that it will come to the US. For now, however, Nissan has managed to achieve a small success, which they can hopefully leverage, even if it doesn’t make it to global markets.
