The ICE-powered wagon has been spotted ahead of a potential launch later this year.

The CLA Shooting Brake has been observed in anticipation of its expected unveil later this year.

This wagon resembles the sedan but features a more functional rear design.

This prototype may be a hybrid, equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine.

The Mercedes-AMG CLA isn’t the only model shedding its camouflage, as spy photographers have captured a lightly disguised CLA Shooting Brake at the Nürburgring. It follows the standard model but adopts a much more practical wagon form.

At the front, there is a familiar face with starry headlights and a traditional grille. This grille suggests that this prototype runs on an internal combustion engine, likely housing a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, a 1.3 kWh battery, and an electric motor integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Additionally, we can expect two electric variants featuring an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The CLA 250+ with EQ Technology includes a rear-mounted motor producing 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 247 lb-ft (335 Nm) of torque, while the CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology boasts an all-wheel drive system with dual motors, generating 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque. These powertrains provide the sedan with a WLTP range of up to 492 miles (792 km), but the extra weight of the wagon may affect that range.

Returning to its design, the CLA Shooting Brake showcases a long, sloped roof and a smooth, elegant beltline. These features are enhanced by an angular liftgate and the now-characteristic starry taillights that Mercedes appears to be applying to nearly every model these days, regardless of necessity.

The few glimpses of the interior show a familiar cabin expected to include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment system, and an optional 14-inch front passenger display. We can also look forward to AI features, an MBUX Virtual Assistant, and a comprehensive list of standard equipment.

However, the main highlight will be the increased cargo space. While details regarding the wagon's capacity remain undisclosed, the sedan’s trunk only offers 14.3 cubic feet (405 liters), so the wagon should present a more ample storage solution.
