The base diesel variant will produce 158 hp, while the turbo petrol version will generate 215 hp.
The two new pickup trucks feature a large ‘JMC’ logo prominently displayed at the front. Engine options will include both turbodiesel and turbo petrol variants.
Jianglian Motors, commonly referred to as JMC, is set to launch two new pickup trucks for the Chinese market. Although these trucks have many similarities, their front-end designs clearly differentiate them. They share a striking resemblance to smaller versions of Ford’s F-Series and Ranger trucks.
If you're going to draw inspiration from someone, it makes sense to take cues from the best. Ford has been honing truck designs for decades, making them some of the best-selling vehicles globally.
Similar to the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ranger Raptor, both JMC models feature front grilles dominated by a large ‘JMC’ emblem. The more upscale model, known as the Tiger, boasts a grille paired with unique headlights featuring sleek LED daytime running lights (DRLs). This model also has a blacked-out bumper that integrates smaller fog lights and a central piece finished in silver. The second version features a slightly larger black grille, simpler headlights, and a different bumper design.
The rear designs of both models are nearly identical, showcasing a sports bar in the bed, upright taillights, a black bumper, and a protruding tailgate. The Tiger measures 209.5 inches (5,322 mm) in length, while the other variant is marginally longer at 210 inches (5,335 mm). Both trucks are rated for a payload capacity of 495 kg (1,091 lbs), according to reports from Autohome.
Data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) indicates that both models will come with the same 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine. In the Tiger, this engine will produce 165 hp (123 kW), while the less powerful version will be limited to 158 hp (118 kW). It is also reported that a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine will be offered, producing a slightly more impressive 215 hp (160 kW).
No interior images have been released at this time, but we do not anticipate either truck to be particularly luxurious or equipped with extensive features. Pricing details have yet to be revealed, but more information is expected closer to the official launch of the two models on May 21.
