Lotus Created a Classic Emira Featuring a Discreet Homage to Jim Clark Internally | Carscoops
Lotus is paying tribute to racing driver Jim Clark with a special edition of the Emira.
This model showcases a vibrant exterior design and a distinctive two-tone interior featuring a wooden shift knob.
It is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 400 hp.
The brand has moved away from their original ‘simplify and add lightness’ philosophy to honor their racing heritage with the new Emira Clark Edition. This edition commemorates Jim Clark, who clinched victory at the Indianapolis 500 and won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1965.
On the exterior, the special edition takes cues from the Lotus Type 38 that Clark drove to his Indy victory, showcasing a Clark Racing Green finish paired with a contrasting black roof. This is complemented by silver mirrors and a bold yellow racing stripe.
Additionally, there is a hand-painted yellow pinstripe and yellow exhaust tips. The model is also equipped with Clark Edition badging and features a machined aluminum fuel filler cap with a blue anodized center.
Inside, the car boasts an asymmetrical design where the driver's seat is upholstered in red leather and Alcantara, while the passenger seat features black leather and Alcantara. The steering wheel and dashboard incorporate red accents, along with a vintage-style wooden gear knob.
Clark’s signature is displayed on the dashboard, and a plaque commemorating his achievements in 1965 is integrated into the seats. The cabin also features Clark Edition badging and carbon fiber treadplates that indicate it is "1 of 60."
As it is based on the Emira V6, this special edition is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter engine that generates 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, delivering power to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. The coupe is expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.2 seconds and achieve a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).
Production will be restricted to 60 units, with the Clark Edition available in select markets. While Lotus has not provided detailed information, they did state that pricing begins at £115,000 in the UK and €140,000 in Germany.
