Masked Man Reportedly Found With Tesla Map Following Cybertruck Blaze | Carscoops
A Cybertruck was completely engulfed in flames outside a Tesla dealership in Mesa, Arizona.
According to reports, the suspect allegedly started the fire using gasoline and fire-starting logs. Authorities indicate that he was found with a map of the dealership and was dressed in clothing that matched security footage.
U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi recently stated that officials will not engage in negotiations with those who attack Tesla.
Since Elon Musk aligned with President Donald Trump and initiated cuts to funding and jobs via the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), incidents of attacks and protests targeting Tesla have increased. Earlier this week, another Tesla vehicle was damaged, and by Wednesday, the individual accused had already been indicted by a federal grand jury.
On Monday, Ian William Moses was accused of igniting a fire at a Tesla dealership in Mesa, Arizona. Federal prosecutors allege that Moses placed fire-starting logs near the dealership, saturated them with gasoline, and lit a fire that damaged the showroom and destroyed a Cybertruck parked outside.
Surveillance footage reportedly captured a figure wearing a black mask, hooded sweatshirt, and baseball cap near the site. Approximately 90 minutes later, local authorities apprehended Moses, who was reportedly dressed in the same outfit. Officials stated that he also had a hand-drawn map of the dealership in his possession, reminiscent of a low-budget spy film, lacking the excitement.
He now faces five counts of willfully damaging property and vehicles in interstate commerce through means of fire. Each count carries a potential fine of up to $250,000 and a prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years.
"There is nothing American about destroying someone else's business due to political disagreements," stated U.S. Attorney Timothy Couchaine regarding the case. "These continuous attacks against Tesla are not protests; they are violent acts that have no place in Arizona or any other location. If someone commits an act of violence against Tesla, they will be apprehended and face the full weight of the law."
This indictment follows a public warning from U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi issued less than a month ago to potential attackers of Tesla facilities or vehicles: "We will arrest you, we will prosecute you, and we will not negotiate. Crimes have consequences."
