Honda has announced enhancements for the 2026 CR-V SUV.
The rugged TrailSport trim is making its CR-V debut with standard hybrid propulsion.
Entry-level CR-Vs have been upgraded to feature a 9-inch screen and wireless charging capability.
In 2024, Honda's CR-V was the fifth-best-selling vehicle in the United States, achieving this milestone without offering a stylish, rugged trim. However, this will change in 2026 as Honda introduces its TrailSport branding to its most popular model.
TrailSport trim has been available on the Passport, but this year it premieres on the CR-V, specifically the CR-V Hybrid. This marks the first TrailSport model to offer hybrid power, and with 30% of Hondas now featuring some type of electric assist, it's unlikely to be the last.
A More Rugged Appearance, Yet Still Primarily Urban-Focused
Similar to previous TrailSport models, the adventurous CR-V receives a range of aesthetic modifications to enhance its rugged appearance, including lower front and rear bumper trims that look like genuine off-road skid plates. The design also features orange accents on the badges, glossy black detailing on door handles, window trim, and the spoiler, along with the option for Ash Green metallic paint from the Passport.
TrailSport models sport Shark Gray 18-inch alloy wheels with recessed valve stems for added protection against rocks and branches when venturing off-road, outfitted with Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires. However, unlike the similarly named Passport, this TrailSport does not come with specialized suspension tuning or true skid plates, given that it is less geared for serious off-road adventures.
Under the hood, it houses the same 204 hp (207 PS) twin-motor hybrid powertrain found in other CR-V Hybrids. Honda also enhanced the interior by adding TrailSport logos on the headrests and rubber floor mats, while ambient lighting illuminates the footwells, overhead console, and cupholders with a TrailSport-specific amber hue.
What Else is New for 2026?
Every CR-V trim now features a touchscreen measuring at least 9 inches (increased from 7 inches on base models), along with a wireless phone charger and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The TrailSport trim further includes heated seats and steering wheel, a moonroof, a powered tailgate, and a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, which is otherwise standard on EX-L trims and higher.
The 2026 CR-V and TrailSport Hybrid are set to arrive at Honda dealerships this spring, and pricing details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
