Visual updates for the VW ID.4’s premium counterpart, the Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback, are modest, featuring a new grille, daytime running lights (DRLs), and bumpers.

For the first time, the facelifted Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback has been spotted undergoing testing. This coupe-style variant showcases new lighting and likely redesigned grille elements. Earlier in 2023, Audi had refreshed the Q4, enhancing its power and charging capabilities.

Audi faced a challenging year in 2024, with sales plunging nearly 12 percent across all regions. Nevertheless, the Q4 managed to retain some popularity in the U.S., and an upcoming facelift could sustain its appeal, especially against the newly updated Tesla Model Y.

These spy photos reveal a prototype of the revised Q4 e-tron in real-world conditions. This model features a coupe profile with a sloping rear, and the modifications will also be reflected on the more practical standard Q4 e-tron.

It’s unlikely many changes will be visible when the vehicles launch, possibly later this year. The hood and fenders seem unchanged from the current Q4, indicating that updates will primarily focus on the grille, lights, and bumpers.

The DRL design appears to be new, adopting the multi-segment DRL technology seen on the latest A4, A6 e-tron, and the Q6 e-tron. However, the Q4 does not include the Q6’s split headlight design.

The lower grille configuration is also altered; current Q4 models feature horizontal slats instead of a hexagonal mesh pattern at the bumper's base. The rear Audi badge is likely to be illuminated, while the front is probably not, as the brand’s large four-ring logo exceeds the illumination size regulations, and Audi has opted not to resize the logo in its recent vehicles.

Another visible change is a larger ADAS sensor positioned at the top of the windshield, indicating that the facelifted Q4 may receive enhanced driver-assist technology. However, further updates to the MEB-platform SUV remain unclear. In late 2023, Audi provided a power boost to the single-motor variants (up to 282 hp/286 PS/210 kW) and increased charging speeds (175 kW) for the dual-motor versions.

Recently, they also introduced an entry-level Q4 35 e-tron for select markets, equipped with a 55 kWh battery that offers a range of 221 miles (355 km) per charge.

The mid-life visual updates for the upscale variant of the VW ID.4 are restricted to a refreshed grille, daytime running lights (DRLs), and new bumpers.
