With only 100 hp and a three-speed automatic transmission, this isn't a performance powerhouse, but experiencing a leisurely drive in this museum-quality coupe would surely be enjoyable.

A pristine first-generation Mazda RX-7 with a mere 1,567 miles on the odometer is currently on the market.

This 1982 FB GSL coupe is listed on the Bring a Trailer auction site with no reserve price.

Mazda assessed the US-spec RX-7, which had restrictive emissions, at just 100 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque.

It has been four decades since the first-generation RX-7 was phased out, yet numerous examples with impressively low mileage remain available for purchase. Over the past year, we've observed more than six cars with less than 20,000 miles (32,000 km) on Bring a Trailer. However, none have seen as little use as this stunning 1,567-mile (2,522 km) model.

This particular 1982 model is recognized by rotary enthusiasts as an FB, marking it as a post-facelift variant of the first-generation RX-7, produced from 1978 to 1985. As a GSL, it represents the most luxurious option among the three trims offered that year. Notable standard features compared to the S and GS trims include four-wheel disc brakes, a limited-slip differential, power windows, a Dolby-equipped sound system with an amplifier, alloy wheels, and a sunroof made of steel.

Additionally, this car was originally delivered to Dayton, Ohio, and has Tornado Silver metallic paint, air conditioning (a $610 upgrade), bright red leather interior ($650), and a three-speed automatic transmission costing $355. The total price came to $13,940, which amounts to $46,200 in today's dollars.

American models of the RX-7 from this period weren't known for their muscle, and the automatic transmission did little to enhance performance. The carbureted 12A rotary engine produced only 100 hp (101 PS) and 105 lb-ft (142 Nm) of torque. Manual versions could reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in approximately 9.2 seconds, while automatics took an additional half second. One can hardly expect the limited-slip differential to see much action outside of slippery conditions.

Nevertheless, while it may not excel in performance – it was still quicker than its US rival, the Porsche 924 – this RX-7 would make slow driving a delightful experience. Picture cruising to a Radwood event with the air conditioning keeping you comfortable while you enjoy the admiring glances. The current owner has reportedly added 500 miles (805 km) to the odometer, and with refreshed paint on the bumpers, it looks impressive.

With 100 hp and a three-speed automatic transmission, it's not exactly a formula for high performance, but cruising slowly would be a delight in this museum-quality coupe.
