In addition to the new Cyber GTS, the existing Cyberster roadster will also see enhancements, two years after its initial launch.
MG's latest Cyber GTS electric coupe features a fixed roof and a 2+2 seating arrangement. The production model will reflect the design of last year’s concept. The 2026 Cyberster will receive new color options, as well as upgrades to its interior and chassis.
The MG Cyberster was introduced in 2023, but the SAIC-owned brand is already implementing upgrades for the 2026 model year in China. A key highlight is the introduction of the new 2+2 coupe variant, aptly named the Cyber GTS.
In terms of design, the coupe will closely resemble the MG Cyber GTS concept that was displayed at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, although it will feature more production-friendly alloy wheels instead of the concept's. While sharing much of its body with the roadster version, the fixed roof and redesigned rear make the coupe even more visually appealing.
A Tribute to British Heritage
The coupe’s greenhouse shape draws inspiration from the now-discontinued Jaguar F-Type, continuing the British tradition (even under Chinese ownership) of sleek, performance-oriented coupes. With no need for a convertible roof mechanism and a modified roofline, the Cyber GTS incorporates a 2+2 interior layout, providing slightly more practicality compared to its convertible counterpart.
Jozef Kaban, the company’s design chief, mentioned that the overwhelmingly favorable response to the concept was a significant reason for MG’s decision to proceed with the production of the Cyber GTS. Autocar, which interviewed the designer, reports that the car is anticipated to launch in October 2025, potentially aligning with the 60th anniversary of the iconic MG B GT.
Alongside the new coupe variant, the MG Cyberster roadster will also receive several upgrades. While the exterior will remain largely the same (including the distinctive upward-opening doors), the color options will expand to include two new shades: Iris Green and Andes Gray. Moreover, MG has launched a special Cyberster Black edition featuring new alloy wheels.
Inside, the roadster's cabin will undergo a few updates as well. Upholstery choices will now include black/red and gray/white combinations, along with new features such as electric lumbar support for both front seats, a new wind deflector, and an upgraded voice recognition system.
Chassis Enhancements and Battery Upgrades
According to Chinese media outlet Autohome, the 2026 MG Cyberster will also experience revised chassis tuning and enhancements to battery life. However, there has been no mention of changes to the electric powertrain or battery options. Currently, the model offers two powertrain choices: a rear-wheel-drive configuration with 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS) or a more powerful all-wheel-drive variant producing 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS). In China, customers can select between 64 kWh and 77 kWh battery packs.
As the 2026 MG Cyberster and Cyber GTS near their launch in China, more details are expected to emerge, especially as MG prepares to broaden its “Cyber” series. Additionally, the production version of the CyberX electric SUV is on the horizon, further expanding the brand’s electric portfolio in the upcoming years.
