Porsche has once again revved up its time machine, transporting us back to the 1970s. While disco may not be making a comeback, pasha seats certainly are—at least in this limited edition. The German automaker introduced a Heritage Design model called the 911 Spirit 70, showcasing a number of retro design elements both inside and out, featuring a unique paint color and an eye-catching interior.

The 911 Spirit 70 builds on the legacy of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, inspired by Porsche models from the 1950s, and the 911 Sport Classic, which reflected the style of the 1960s. This time, the foundation is the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet. You don't need to be an expert in car spotting to recognize the Spirit 70 in a parking lot: It is coated in a new hue called Olive Neo, created exclusively by Porsche for this model. Black stripes, a black soft top, and gray-gold finished Sport Classic wheels complete the nostalgic appearance.

Someone has certainly shown creativity in this photo set.

Upon closer inspection, several additional interesting details emerge. The hood features a Porsche crest nearly identical to the one used by the brand in 1963. The engine cover displays the familiar Porsche Heritage badge, while the emblem on the rear boasts galvanized gold plating.

Inside, the standout element is a patterned upholstery in black and Olive Neo called Pasha. This seat design may remind you of cars from 50 years ago, and true Porsche enthusiasts will be familiar with it.

Pasha showcases a kind of checkerboard pattern, albeit with a perspective twist that enhances its visual appeal. There is an extensive collection of images showcasing classic vehicles with this seat design in an old Rennlist thread that you should explore after reading this article.

Porsche has reintroduced this design for the special edition, featuring it prominently on the seats, dashboard, glovebox, and door panels. It’s one of the most striking upholstery designs seen in a recent 911, and the material has been engineered to offer more comfort than the cloth used in the 1970s. A numbered plaque is situated on the passenger side of the dashboard, and the digital instrument cluster features eye-catching green digits along with the “Spirit 70” logo in the tachometer.

Porsche has not implemented any mechanical modifications, so don’t anticipate finding a vintage-inspired mechanical fuel-injection system in the engine compartment. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The powertrain consists of a gasoline-electric hybrid system combining a turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine and an electric motor integrated with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, producing 541 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque.

Now available for sale, the 911 Spirit 70 is expected to reach European customers by April 2025. Porsche states that deliveries to other markets will follow soon after, but there's a catch. Production is limited to 1,500 units globally, and while the price has yet to be disclosed, it wouldn’t be surprising if the model sells out in mere days, as limited-edition 911s tend to become instant classics. If you miss the opportunity to purchase one, Porsche has also launched an entire range of 911 Spirit 70-themed apparel, lifestyle items, and model cars as consolation gifts.
