Stellantis is recalling nearly 50,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to two separate issues.

The Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet may not show a rearview image while reversing.

Some Maserati GranTurismos are also being recalled because of a paint issue that can cause labels to detach.

It's a significant recall period as Stellantis has announced two recalls shortly after Ford issued five in a single day. This latest round affects several vehicles from Alfa Romeo and Dodge, along with a few from Maserati.

To begin with, Dodge is recalling 40,372 Hornets, while Alfa Romeo is recalling 8,122 Tonales. These badge-engineered crossovers feature a display module that might not provide a rearview camera image in reverse, thus failing to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

According to the government agency, around 1% of the 48,494 affected vehicles may have issues with “cold soldering on a voltage regulator and/or a software defect in the microprocessor, which could prevent the rearview image from displaying.” The affected models are from the 2023-2025 range, and Stellantis launched an investigation in Europe last March.

This investigation eventually led to a recall, resulting in dealerships replacing the infotainment system or updating its software. Notifications to vehicle owners are expected to be sent out in June.

In addition, Maserati is recalling 21 GranTurismo vehicles from the 2024 model year. These cars feature a specific textured topcoat that may cause manufacturer and tire labels to come off.

This recall is unusual, but Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards mandate that specific information must be displayed on a permanently affixed placard on the driver's side B-pillar. Since the labels can come off, these vehicles are not in compliance with that standard.

The cars are coated in a Nero Scarabeo clear coat exterior, and Maserati has identified that the “root cause is the glue used for the labels, which may not properly adhere to the final clear coat.” The solution is straightforward; owners will receive new labels that should ideally remain attached.
