Authorities report that a 22-year-old has stolen multiple sets of wheels from a dealership in Connecticut.

He reportedly shared a selfie featuring the stolen wheels in the background while boasting to friends.

The individual now faces numerous charges and has been released on a $150,000 bond.

As car prices keep increasing, it is not surprising that criminals are taking notice. Some are opting to target parts instead of the vehicles themselves. This seems to apply to 22-year-old Brandon Sullo, who police claim is responsible for stealing tires in Connecticut. He is accused of taking several sets of wheels and then foolishly providing undeniable evidence of his crime to others.

In October 2024, law enforcement responded to a Sullivan Honda dealership in Torrington, CT, to investigate a suspicious individual. By the time they arrived, the suspect had just missed capture, even grazing a police car with their escape vehicle. Officers traced the vehicle's registration back to Sullo.

A week later, police secured a search warrant for the involved Honda Accord. Inside, they discovered a jack, an impact gun, and various wrenches. This led to the seizure of a cellphone belonging to an unnamed accomplice believed to have assisted Sullo.

On that phone, they found a selfie taken and sent by the suspect featuring several tires in the vehicle with him. The picture was captured on the same day as one of the alleged robberies, and Sullo had captioned it, “Coming back from Torrington,” the site of the theft.

Consequently, he was charged with first-degree larceny, three counts of second-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit larceny in both the first and second degrees. Between October 7 and November 23, police suspect he stole wheels and tires from cars at both Sullivan Honda and Toyota of Westport. According to CTInsider, authorities possess video evidence placing Sullo at both locations.

The suspect turned himself in on April 14 and subsequently posted a $150,000 bond before being transferred to another police department on separate charges. He has an arraignment scheduled for May 5, and police anticipate making at least one additional arrest related to his case. While crime is never beneficial, committing a crime and documenting evidence against oneself seems particularly detrimental.
