Kia's Budget-Friendly Electric Vehicles Are Set To Arrive In America | Carscoops

      The EV3 and EV4 are set to make their debut at the New York Auto Show next week.

      Kia plans to unveil three new vehicles at the event, and although the details are scarce, they may include the EV3, EV4, and K4 Hatchback.

      The electric models are expected to offer two battery options and a 201 hp motor.

      Next week, the New York Auto Show will commence, and Kia will showcase three “significant” new vehicles, which will range from a “sedan to SUV to something in between.”

      While the company hasn’t revealed much more about these vehicles, they hinted that they will “cover distinct model lines” and will be equipped with two fully electric powertrains. Additionally, one is said to take a “sporty and versatile approach in the compact car segment.”

      Kia has issued a teaser image of the US-spec EV4 sedan, which was first introduced earlier this year with 58.3 and 81.4 kWh battery packs offering a WLTP range of up to 391 miles (630 km).

      The vehicle is built on the E-GMP platform and includes a front-mounted motor that produces 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS), allowing it to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 7.4 seconds. When the battery is low, it can recharge from 10-80% in approximately 31 minutes.

      As for the “something” between a sedan and crossover, it is likely the K4 Hatchback, which was first teased at last year’s New York Auto Show and follows the success of the compact sedan.

      The K4 Hatchback starts at $21,990 and features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 147 hp (110 kW / 149 PS). There is also an option for a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that delivers 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque.

      The third and final vehicle is an electric SUV, which remains somewhat enigmatic but could potentially be the EV3. The company has already confirmed its availability in the US, and this crossover is expected to share its powertrain with the EV4.
