Ford has significantly reduced promotional financing and cash offers as it launches its new "employee pricing" initiative.
The company has made employee pricing available to all US buyers but has eliminated certain promotional financing options. Moreover, many models have lost considerable customer cash incentives that were in place prior to April 2.
For instance, the discount on the 2024 Expedition has fallen from $7,000 to $2,000 under this new pricing approach.
As a fresh set of international tariffs was announced, Ford stated it would provide employee pricing to all American customers for a limited period. Initially, this seems like a generous gesture aimed at easing the impact of anticipated economic challenges. However, upon closer examination, the savings may not be as impressive as they initially seemed.
The company is extending employee pricing to nearly every 2024 and 2025 Ford and Lincoln model until June 2. Furthermore, this deal can be stacked with any existing incentives. However, Ford has quietly removed some of the more attractive offers that were available before April 2 when the new pricing was introduced.
According to Cars Direct, Ford has scaled back promotional financing options across much of its range. For example, the financing rate for an Escape on a 60-month loan previously sat at 3.9% APR but has now risen to 7%. Other models similarly only have standard financing rates available now.
Cash incentives have also been affected. Prior to the announcement of the employee pricing deal, several models boasted significant discounts. The 2024 Expedition, which previously included $7,000 in customer cash, is now only offering $2,000. Likewise, the 2024 Mustang Mach-E saw its lease cash reduced from $8,000 to $3,750. Reports indicate that the customer cash incentive for the 2025 Escape Plug-In Hybrid has also been lowered by $4,000, bringing it to $5,000.
Rob Kaffl, Ford’s director of US sales, characterized the employee pricing initiative as “a handshake deal with every American,” emphasizing that “for 121 years, we’ve put our money where our mouth is, assembling vehicles that Americans depend on and supporting American jobs.”
However, this offer is not universal. While employee pricing is available for most Ford and Lincoln models, certain exclusions apply. These include the new Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, all Super Duty pickup trucks, the F-150 Raptor, Ranger Raptors, and higher-tier Mustangs and Broncos.
Thus, while the main offer appears enticing, the specifics reveal a more familiar situation, where the most favorable deals have already been in place and are now absent.
