Vandals Strike 5 Cybertrucks at Shopping Mall, Prompting Police Search | Carscoops
This isn’t the first instance of Nazi messages being found on a Tesla Cybertruck.
The vandals spray-painted graffiti on the vehicles, including one that stated, "Nazis always lose."
Surveillance cameras in the vicinity captured footage of two young men who are of interest in the case.
Authorities in Grand Rapids are also probing a recent attack on a Tesla facility.
Tensions regarding Elon Musk's contentious public persona continue to manifest—occasionally in a tangible way—on Tesla cars. The police in Kentwood, Michigan, are seeking the community's assistance in identifying two individuals believed to be linked to the vandalism of five Cybertrucks. As incidents of vandalism against Tesla vehicles increase nationwide, some police departments are intensifying their efforts to locate those responsible.
The vandalism occurred on March 10, targeting five Cybertrucks parked in a lot outside Woodland Mall. Each vehicle was vandalized overnight, with one featuring the phrase "Nazis always lose" painted on its doors, likely referencing Elon Musk and the widely criticized gesture he made during President Donald Trump's inauguration.
According to photos released by the Kentwood Police Department and shared by Fox17, two young men may be connected to the vandalism. One was seen wearing a green hoodie, blue jeans, and white shoes, while the other was dressed in a blue and white hoodie, a beanie, black pants, and black shoes. Local law enforcement is urging anyone who recognizes these individuals to reach out to them directly.
This is far from the only recent occurrence of vandals defacing Tesla vehicles and property with Nazi-themed messages. In February, a Cybertruck parked on a street in Lower Manhattan was found with a large swastika spray-painted on its side. Simultaneously, a Tesla Supercharger was also marked with a Nazi message and a swastika.
The trend of vandalism has even impacted Tesla’s own properties. Police in Grand Rapids, Michigan, are currently investigating a separate incident where a window was broken at a local Tesla manufacturing facility, with the damage occurring between March 28 and March 31, as reported by MLive.
Some law enforcement officials seem to be losing their patience. Recently, Sheriff Richard Jones from Butler County, Ohio, labeled Tesla vandals as "overweight individuals living in their mother's basements wearing their mother's pajamas," warning that anyone caught damaging a Tesla in his jurisdiction could face imprisonment.
While the motivations behind these acts vary, police departments nationwide are increasing their efforts to identify suspects and prevent future incidents. For the moment, investigators in Kentwood are hoping the public can assist in resolving their latest case.
