Buyers interested in the complimentary maintenance plan should consider purchasing a 2025 model year Hyundai while they still can.

Hyundai’s free maintenance program will conclude with the 2025 models, transitioning instead to pre-paid plans.

The included services covered under the complimentary program include oil changes, filters, tire rotations, and inspections.

Two prepaid maintenance options will be offered, named Basic and Scheduled Maintenance.

For those who are still hopeful that automakers will include some complimentary services with new cars, this is another blow to that notion. Hyundai is discontinuing the three-year complimentary maintenance program that has been part of its new vehicle offerings in the United States.

Initially launched for the 2020 model year, the program will not be available for 2026 models, as the company moves towards paid maintenance options.

The current free program is valid for three years or 36,000 miles, providing oil changes, oil filters, tire rotations, and multi-point inspections at no charge. It has assisted many buyers in easing their transition into vehicle ownership without the immediate concerns of maintenance, but this advantage will soon be eliminated. A recent bulletin sent to dealers indicates that Hyundai stated, “the cost of the program grew to unsupportable levels,” leading to its discontinuation.

Carscoops reached out to Hyundai for further details. According to the bulletin, “Hyundai has determined a new approach is necessary and will not be offering the HCM Program for model year 2026 and beyond.”

It is crucial to note that the complimentary maintenance program still applies to current 2025 model year vehicles, so anyone wishing to take advantage of free maintenance should seek out a 2025 model before it's too late. Hyundai will continue to honor the free plan for all existing models purchased until the three-year period concludes.

As for what will replace the current offering, Hyundai is set to introduce a new Pre-Paid Maintenance Program. This will consist of two tiers: Pre-Paid Basic Maintenance, which includes oil changes and tire rotations, and Pre-Paid Scheduled Maintenance, which will cover all service items listed in the owner's manual.

Hyundai will provide customers with a discount for purchasing one of the plans, but specific pricing information will be released at a later date. This program aims to assure dealerships and service centers steady work while fostering owner loyalty instead of having vehicles serviced by third-party providers.
