I’ve always admired the design of the Hyundai Ioniq 6, as it brings to mind the original Mercedes CLS. For 2026, the Ioniq 6 is set to improve even further with stylish design updates, beneficial interior enhancements, and an even more appealing new N Line variant.

The insect-like headlights from the current Ioniq 6 are being replaced. Instead, there are slender strips of square LEDs for the daytime running lights with thicker (yet still slim) main beams positioned underneath. These projectors are somewhat concealed within the new black front fascia, while the DRLs match the body color, making it so that the headlights aren't visible until illuminated. The rear spoiler has also been replaced by an integrated ducktail spoiler, which improves aerodynamics and creates a more cohesive look. You may also spot cameras in lieu of side mirrors, although federal safety regulations will prevent those from being available in the U.S.

More crucially, the interior of the Ioniq 6 is receiving some enhancements, as this was an area where the current model needed significant improvement. While the overall design is solid, the materials felt subpar for a vehicle priced starting at almost $40,000. Hyundai seems to be addressing this in the refreshed model with “enhanced door trim materials for a more premium feel.” Hopefully, this improvement will also include a revamped center console designed to be more functional. Additionally, there is a new climate control screen that aims to be user-friendly, a sportier steering wheel, and two screens on either side of the dashboard for side camera displays.

The changes for the new N Line trim are mainly cosmetic but do create a noticeable visual impact. It features a distinctive front fascia with large “intakes,” along with five-spoke wheels that would fit right in on an Audi RS vehicle.

However, Hyundai has sneakily teased something even more exciting between its updated electric sedans—literally. In the background of one image, positioned behind a regular Ioniq 6 and an N Line model, is the forthcoming Hyundai Ioniq 6 N. It features the sedan's integrated ducktail spoiler along with a large fixed wing. The Ioniq 6 N also appears to have a new rear diffuser and some red trim. While no mechanical details were provided, it’s reasonable to anticipate that it will share similar technology with the Ioniq 5 N: two electric motors producing 641 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque.

I’m looking forward to the revamped Ioniq 6. Hyundai has taken a vehicle that already captured attention and made it sharper while maintaining its uniqueness. Besides, I won't turn down another 641-horsepower sport sedan. Will Hyundai finally have its competitor for the M3?
