Honda has introduced a new special edition of the City hatchback in Thailand.
Called the Drival, it is built on the e:HEV RS and features an enhanced body kit.
There are no upgrades to power or handling, and production is limited to 1,000 units.
While the Honda City may not be known for high-performance variants like the Civic Type R, Honda is enhancing its appeal with a new limited-edition model. The Honda City Drival is a stylish reinterpretation of the popular hatchback in Asian markets, based on the e:HEV RS trim with added sporty elements.
This special edition is available exclusively in Pearl White, featuring striking gloss black accents. A key highlight is the body kit, which includes a front splitter, side skirts, an extended rear bumper with a diffuser, and a prominent rear wing.
In terms of wheels, the Drival features a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels that enhance its overall appearance. Honda's choice to omit chrome accents is beneficial, resulting in a glossy black finish for the grille, badges, roof, and mirrors. Inside, the cabin echoes the exterior style, incorporating black upholstery with red highlights and stitching.
Since the Drival is based on the high-spec e:HEV RS trim, it is well-appointed in terms of technology. It features an 8-inch infotainment display, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an eight-speaker audio system, and automatic climate control. The vehicle also includes a number of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, which are becoming standard in new vehicles.
Sadly, the modifications do not enhance performance. Under the hood, it maintains the same e:HEV hybrid system as before—a 1.5-liter engine generating 97 hp (72 kW) paired with a single electric motor producing 108 hp (80 kW). This combined output is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT.
The new Honda City Drival Edition starts at ฿829,000 ($24,400) in Thailand, making it the priciest trim in the lineup. In comparison, the entry-level City S+ begins at ฿599,000 ($17,600), while the top-tier City e:HEV RS is priced at ฿799,000 ($23,500).
The current generation of the Honda City sedan was launched in 2019, with the hatchback following in 2020. Both variants received mid-cycle updates in 2023 and 2024. The Honda City is sold in various markets across Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, serving as a cost-effective alternative to models like the Civic.
