Someone Egged a Cybertruck and Smudged Dog Waste on It | Carscoops
No matter one’s opinion about Tesla, defacing a car in this manner is unjustifiable.
A Cybertruck in Brooklyn was egged and smeared with dog waste, igniting a discussion online.
Tesla’s Sentry Mode may have recorded the offender, assuming they did not disguise themselves.
Incidents of vandalism against Teslas, especially the Cybertruck, have increased amid rising discontent.
It's an intriguing time to be a Tesla owner. For over ten years, the company has manufactured some of the most beloved electric vehicles and has developed a nearly fanatic following, largely due to CEO Elon Musk. However, as Musk has become more involved in politics, the brand's previously immaculate reputation seems to be diminishing, alongside a surge in reports of vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles.
No Tesla model has generated more controversy than the Cybertruck. Its divisive design, characterized by sharp angles and an appearance reminiscent of a discarded 90s sci-fi movie, has drawn attention for all the wrong reasons. Some enthusiasts appreciate it, while others would prefer to see it off the road. Recently, someone in Brooklyn appears to have expressed their discontent by vandalizing a Cybertruck parked on the street.
Images circulating on Reddit display the damage: the Cybertruck was egged, and additionally, what appears to be dog feces was smeared on its rear. It remains unclear whether the vandal has a particular grudge against the truck, Musk, or just angular vehicles in general. Regardless, they made their statement while wasting some valuable eggs in the process. Given current egg prices, that's quite a waste.
While the identity of the vandal is yet to be revealed, the owner may be able to identify them if they are determined. Tesla's Sentry Mode, which employs external cameras to capture suspicious behavior, could have recorded the entire incident. If the perpetrator was not wearing a ski mask or any facial covering, they may find themselves facing very incriminating footage of their actions.
It's not surprising to note that this isn't the first instance of a Tesla being vandalized. In January, a Cybertruck in Los Angeles was similarly targeted by a group of vandals. After being involved in a crash, it was left in a parking lot and became an impromptu art project for local troublemakers. It didn't take long before the vehicle was adorned with graffiti, turning it into an unwelcome street attraction.
