It appears that the Nissan driver excessively overcorrected while attempting to powerslide the sports car.
According to reports from 16 hours ago by Brad Anderson, the operator of this Nissan Z was overly enthusiastic with the vehicle's accelerator.
Disabling traction and stability control on public streets is a surefire way to invite disaster.
In this particular instance, the Z driver attempted to loosen the car’s rear end and ended up colliding with a spectator.
When hosting a car gathering in the U.S., you can bet that many participants will aim to entertain the audience by flooring the pedal and trying to leave behind substantial black tire marks on the pavement. This has been a classic approach for grabbing attention, but for one Nissan Z driver at a recent event, things didn’t unfold as planned.
The owner of the Japanese sports car had been participating in the Car Culture meet in Katy, Texas, and, like many others at the gathering, aggressively merged onto the nearby highway, likely wanting to impress those watching from the roadside. Unfortunately, it soon became evident that the driver’s definition of “impressive” did not align with his actual driving skills.
In a review of the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo, it’s highlighted that it can make every day feel like a track day.
Immediately after exiting the driveway, the rear of the Z began to skid. Instead of allowing it to self-correct, the driver overreacted, leading the car to sway precariously. Undeterred, he pressed the accelerator again in an attempt to regain control—but the vehicle swung even further to the left. Another overcorrection ensued, this one more drastic than the previous.
With the front wheels momentarily pointed toward a concrete barrier on the roadside, that's exactly the path the Z took. The footage shows it climbing the curb and crashing into the wall. To make matters worse, a spectator standing nearby was struck by the vehicle.
The collision was forceful enough to break one of the car's headlights, damage the front bumper and hood, and severely impair the driver-side front wheel. Consequently, the driver had to abandon the car by the roadside while law enforcement responded to the incident.
